It is good to give thanks to the Lord, and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High; Psalm 92:1

My Dear Pastors & Youth Leaders.

I greet you knowing that we are striving to reimage ministry during a pandemic!

This letter comes to first thank you for all the support you have given to the Young People’s and Children’s Division of the Women’s Missionary Society. I want to express my gratitude for your response to the District initiative “Frank’s Fight is our Fight”. Because of your generosity New Jersey was able to contribute an estimated $2,500.00 of the $12,041.00 plus dollars.

As we embrace 2021 we are looking for your continued support of our next initiatives. On January 18, 2021 we will be involved in a Day of Service honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. We are asking every local church to come up with a project or reach out to your Area Director and join in with the Area Initiative.  Focus for this year is “Essential Workers”. Please share your project and pictures with us by January 19, 2021 by 8:00pm to be included in our presentation on the 20th.

On January 20, 2021 we   invite you and your church family to join us in our First Inaugural Celebration & Review.  We will celebrate our 46th President Joseph Biden and our history making first Black Vice President Kamala Harris. We are asking you to dress to impress with our girl’s in pearl and guys in ties and share in the festivities of the evening.  One of the highlights of the evening will be recognizing our essential workers that have been on the frontline working during this pandemic.   Please submit names, pictures, and place of employment/occupation by January 11, 2021.

Your assistance with the following is needed to ensure that all is done decently and in order. Please email all requested information (mission project for MLK and Essential Workers to Mrs. Kathleen Cummings, pamela200738@yahoo.com and me, lmackey7361@gmil.com.

  • On February 7, 2021, we will launch our annual Fight Against Hunger Campaign / Souper Bowl of Caring. Asking every local church to host a YPD Tailgate Pop Up Soup Kitchens throughout the State for the homeless prior to the Superbowl Game.  Asking WMS to partner with the YPD and assist them in preparing a hot pot of homemade soup to serve the community. Money will be collected from local church members, family, and friends from January 7 to February 7 to offset the project (pop up soup kitchen). Any remaining funds will be   donated to support a food pantry at a local or nearby church. Goal is to help to reduce hunger in NJ.
  • The NJC YPD Leadership Academy will be held virtually tentatively scheduled for February 19, 2021.  The training is for YPD leaders on all levels, aspiring leaders, YPD Advisors, and local Directors.
  • YPD Gazette is now accepting articles for the first print copy of 2021.  Deadline for submission is January 15, 2021. The theme is “Moving Forward”. It is a new year, and we want youth to share how they plan on moving forward as a YPDer whether it is in school ,your relationship with God , or even personally. Any questions on submissions  contact “ypdgazette1816@gmail.com

We look forward to a wonderful fellowship!
